Before joining Fed and Fearless™, I was still using fitness as a way of punishment for my food choices and making myself go even if I was dreading going or exhausted from work. I was still having some mindset issues about what health truly meant and stuck in that cycle of striving to have everything perfect in my training and nutrition. I felt like I couldn't take a breath because of the pressure I put on myself.
Financially I knew it would be difficult and I had to adjust some things in my life to make it work but it was worth every penny! Physically I saw a loss in one dress size and also changed my training plan and have surprised myself with my lifts. And now enjoy training and no long use it as a way of punishment.
Mentally I've noticed the biggest change. I am no longer consumed by the unrealistic exceptions I've put on myself to have everything perfect with food and training. Before I joined Fed and Fearless™, I felt very stuck. I had tried various diets and exercise plans, but knew that what I really needed was mental and heart changes when it came to body image and food and fitness struggles.

Before joining Fed and Fearless™, my daily mental energy was fixated on how "hard/amazing" my workout had to be and obsessing over how healthy I could eat. I sought achievement of a "good day" through crushing a workout and eating as "perfect" and "clean" as I could. Before I joined Fed and Fearless™, I was living in a state of overly-strict eating, chronic under-eating, and general misunderstanding of what my needs are vs. what I read on the Internet. As someone interested in health overall, I read too much, believed too much, and then tried to apply everything I read. Additionally, like many women with Type A personalities, I suffered from the need to control everything, from my diet/body/weight to my children and husband to my day-to-day life. Sorry, but that's a recipe for disaster, unhappiness, and stress.
Ultimately I realized that my chronic gut and skin issues plus the strictness of my diet and lifestyle were not playing out well overall, especially as the digestion issues were just getting worse. It was time for a deep dive into what was really going on. After all, if I'm unhappy then I know it reflects on those I love, and the last thing I want to do is lead my children into this same cycle of madness!
Over my year of private coaching with Laura, I learned more about my body's needs and we touched a little on the mental/emotional side. But when she introduced Fed & Fearless™ coaching to me, I realized it was a perfect fit. As someone who has been diving into my personal journey toward a stronger relationship with God as well as finding my full potential as wife, mother, friend, and woman, I needed dive deeper into what this all means and how to push aside the unnecessary "stuff" and move into the meat of the matter.
Laura's intuitive eating approach, her holistic attitude toward physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health, and her personal story all combine in a way that just works. It just makes sense, and it really does make a difference.
How to explain my results? Two stories: the first is so simple yet so totally exemplary of the victory I have achieved. I attended a women's retreat last week and come lunch time I was one of the last to get my meal and the choices were limited (most options already gone). I could choose between a basic ham sandwich or a spinach salad with no meat. I was hungry, and where last year I would have taken the salad because it was supposedly "healthier" and fewer calories, this time around I knew that it wouldn't sustain me, I would likely bloat up afterwards, and I would later be on the search for more food and make poor choices. So I took the sandwich and I enjoyed it. It wasn't a gourmet sandwich by any stretch, but I did enjoy it and I felt mostly satisfied. I was still a bit hungry after so I ate the chocolate chip cookie that came with it. I ate it, enjoyed it, and thought no more about it.
THAT was the mind shift that completely floored me because for years I have denied myself that little bit of happiness. I always thought I didn't really want or need that cookie, that I should avoid it because I'd just feel guilty later. Nope. No longer. I wanted it. I ate it. I felt great. Then after the retreat I went home and didn't feel a great urge to scour the house for more food because I was starving after a darn boring salad.
My other story I shared with my F&F cohort. I've come to pay close attention to negative thoughts that float into my head, whether it's regarding how I look, what I eat, my career, etc. I applied this specifically after a conversation with my supervisor. I was happy with the conversation, but a day later the thoughts crept into my head, "You should have said this or that, what were you thinking, you'll never get ahead, you could have done more..." In that moment I realized that these thoughts were not my own, not coming from a good place (from God), so I said a prayer to get the Devil out of my head, and it worked. No more. Everyone's approach will be different, of course, but that is what did it for me.
Now, the point is that this coaching program taught me the self-awareness to recognize these thoughts and end them before they could do their damage. I feel empowered, no longer a slave to negativity that the outside world tends to push upon me. It is freedom.
It's a freeing sensation of being able to step away from what the world around me is pushing into my space. Being armed with knowledge about what is and isn't real and what is and isn't important in my story. This is the kind of revelation that is priceless because I can take it with me anywhere I go for as long as I live, and if I'm really conscious then I can impart it to my children and help them focus on the right things in the right ways along their own journeys.

The problem I see with most coaching programs, however, is that they provide the "what" and the "how" but not the "why". Knowing WHY you are taking certain actions with your health habits allows you to be more consistent with the habits that serve you, and to drop the habits that don't.
Also, learning WHY your body is worth taking care of from a loving perspective will radically transform your approach to health, especially if you are struggling with the perfectionist, all-or-nothing mindset.

Coaching requires a commitment, from both the coach and the client. When a client knows a refund is possible, it is too easy for her to have “one foot in” the coaching relationship and “one foot out” the door in case the program “doesn’t work.”
If you think the program might not work for you, it won’t.
